Adventure comes to life at Blackwood during the summer. Campers explore the wonders of nature while learning new skills and forming life-long friendships. We are an inclusive community where campers can grow, gain independence, and have fun.
Blackwood Nature Camp is a week-long overnight experience for children ages 8–14, located in Hempstead, Texas. Our mission is simple: to get kids outside, active, and connected to the natural world.
Campers spend their days immersed in outdoor adventure—hiking wooded trails, swimming (with a required swim test), paddle boarding, practicing archery, and playing forest games. They also participate in hands-on classes like natural dyeing, cane-pole fishing, and outdoor cooking, while learning about local wildlife through engaging workshops led by area experts.
Evenings bring a different kind of magic, with stargazing, storytelling, and roasting s’mores around the campfire.
Throughout the week, campers build confidence, sportsmanship, and meaningful friendships. Guided by highly trained counselors, they explore the wilderness in a safe and supportive environment, discovering both the beauty of nature and their own sense of adventure.
At Blackwood, we believe this immersive experience can spark a lifelong connection to the outdoors—and we are proud to create an inclusive, welcoming space for every child.

• One Session: $1295
• Two Sessions: Save $100*
• Three Sessions: Save $200*
*largest savings applies (i.e., 2 siblings register for 1 session each, two session discount applies).
Sessions are Sunday evening through Friday afternoon and are limited to 26 campers.
Scholarships are available! To apply, complete the scholarship section during registration.
