In addition to our delicious food options\, we will also have a diverse selection of beers\, wines\, and non-alcoholic beverages available for your enjoyment. \nStroll through the gardens\, woods\, and prairies with one of Blackwood’s staff members and learn about our seasonal highlights. We’ll share our favorite spots\, visit the farm animals\, and discuss how Blackwood is working toward modeling a closed loop food system. \nEvery Saturday from Noon to 4:00 p.m. starting January 13th!

DESCRIPTION:Our weekly Open Farm Day is your chance to experience the Blackwood Skyfarm at POST Houston for after-school/after-work education each and every week.\nEach Open Farm Day begins with a 1 hour interactive tour of the Blackwood Skyfarm followed by a 1 hour food or farming lesson.\nWeekly on Wednesdays\, year-round. \n\n4:30 PM to 6:30 PM until the Spring Equinox (Wednesday\, March 13)\, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM between Spring and Autumn Equinox (Wednesday\, March 20 – Wednesday\, September 18)\nReturn to 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM from Wednesday\, September 25\, 2024 to Wednesday\, March 19\, 2025.\nFree and open to all\, with RSVP required to communicate on special instructions.\nWe no longer have Open Farm Days on Sundays.\n\nEach week alternates between a Community Food Lesson or Community Farm lesson: \n\nCommunity Food Lessons are hands-on sessions where you will learn how to make simple nutrient-dense foods or plant-based medicine using seasonal produce and herbs\, and maybe even take something home!\nCommunity Farm Lessons are also hands-on experiential learning sessions where you become an urban farmer for the day\, picking up tips on how to start and nurture your own home\, school\, or community garden.\nCheck back here each week for our upcoming topics. DESCRIPTION:Our weekly Open Farm Day is your chance to experience the Blackwood Skyfarm at POST Houston for after-school/after-work education each and every week.\nEach Open Farm Day begins with a 1 hour interactive tour of the Blackwood Skyfarm followed by a 1 hour food or farming lesson.\nWeekly on Wednesdays\, year-round. \n\n4:30 PM to 6:30 PM until the Spring Equinox (Wednesday\, March 13)\, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM between Spring and Autumn Equinox (Wednesday\, March 20 – Wednesday\, September 18)\nReturn to 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM from Wednesday\, September 25\, 2024 to Wednesday\, March 19\, 2025.\nFree and open to all\, with RSVP required to communicate on special instructions.\nWe no longer have Open Farm Days on Sundays.\n\nEach week alternates between a Community Food Lesson or Community Farm lesson: \n\nCommunity Food Lessons are hands-on sessions where you will learn how to make simple nutrient-dense foods or plant-based medicine using seasonal produce and herbs\, and maybe even take something home!\nCommunity Farm Lessons are also hands-on experiential learning sessions where you become an urban farmer for the day\, picking up tips on how to start and nurture your own home\, school\, or community garden.\nCheck back here each week for our upcoming topics. SUMMARY:Blackwood Skyfarm Tours (Th)
DESCRIPTION:The Blackwood Skyfarm at POST Houston is available for educational tours to groups\, schools\, businesses\, and more each week by appointment\, made at least 48 hours in advance. Our availability for tours is Thursday 8 AM to 12 PM and Friday 12 PM to 2 PM. Our standard introductory tour lasts for 1 hour but can be expanded to either a 2-hour deep dive or a 4-hour educational volunteer day.\n\nAt our introductory tour\, we walk our current crops and demonstrate how the Skyfarm blends both ancestral\, regenerative food production practices and 21st-century technologies to produce organic food with fewer food miles and a lower carbon footprint. The tour also includes a seasonal food education component inspired by our current crops. Each visitor leaves with an understanding of the climate impact of our conventional food system\, how farming practices deployed at the Blackwood Landfarm in Hempstead and Skyfarm at POST Houston help to mitigate the effects of greenhouse gas emissions\, and the benefits of locally grown\, nutrient-dense foods and plant medicine.\n\nBy envisioning and building the Skyfarm\, POST Houston shows that the sky is the limit for far-sighted leaders to learn how to transform a historically short-sighted city. Blackwood is thrilled to be a part of this collaboration and to be blazing new trails toward Houston’s green future.
