# Blackwood Educational Land Institute

> Blackwood Educational Land Institute is a Houston-area educational nonprofit that connects people to the land through farm-based, regenerative education. For roughly 40 years it has run hands-on programs in nature, food, and ecology across two working farms: the Landfarm in Hempstead, Texas, and the Skyfarm on the rooftop of POST Houston in downtown Houston.

Blackwood's mission is to connect children and adults to nature, food, and community through regenerative, land-based education. Its programs range from summer Nature Camp and Farm School to weekly volunteer days, school and group visits, farm tours, and signature community events. The organization operates as a living classroom where sustainable agriculture, soil health, and ecological stewardship are taught through direct experience.
