Volunteer Days at the Blackwood Land Farm
Every Wednesday | Hempstead, Texas
Get your hands in the soil and your heart in the work.
Blackwood Educational Land Institute invites you to join us for Volunteer Days, held every Wednesday at our 10-acre regenerative farm in Hempstead, Texas — a working landscape where education, ecology, and community come together.
Whether you’re a seasoned grower, a student, or simply looking to reconnect with the land, Volunteer Days offer a chance to support Blackwood’s mission while gaining hands-on experience in land stewardship and regenerative agriculture.
What Volunteers Might Do:
• Plant, weed, and harvest seasonal crops
• Compost, mulch, and care for soil health
• Assist with animal care and pasture management
• Help maintain trails, habitats, and learning spaces
• Support preparation for school visits and community programs
Why It Matters:
Blackwood’s land is more than a farm — it’s a teaching tool. By volunteering, you’re helping cultivate a place where children, educators, and future food system leaders learn how to care for the planet through action, not theory.
